All parents of students in Glenart College are automatically members of the Parents Association.
Parents are key stakeholders in the school. Your input is very important and we encourage parents to become involved through the Parents Council. We try to help parents and children get the most from their time in Glenart College. We are continually looking for ways to support the school. We hold monthly meetings towards this aim.
The Annual General Meeting of the Association takes place in September every year and it is hugely beneficial for parents to attend this. The Parents Council is elected at this meeting and they meet every month. The meetings are attended by the school principal, general matters and general topics of concern to the parents are raised and dealt with. These meetings provide a good basis for you to get to know the workings of the school and to meet and to know other parents.
The Parents Council works with teachers and management of the College to assist with fundraising for projects that would normally require extra payments from the students’ parents to enable their children to participate in extracurricular in-house activities
We also help towards funding for certain types of equipment that would not ordinarily be provided by the Department of Education. These are examples of some of the causes we have supported;
- New sports kits for the basketball and football teams
- Comfortable furniture for ASD Support
- Parents Plus and Working Things Out programme
- Trip to CERN for students
Examples of fundraising activities include:
- Christmas raffle
- Carol singing
- Clothes recycling
- Community week in the Sue Ryder Foundation
If any parents have suggestions or would like to become involved in fundraising for the Association please contact the office in the school. These funds are invaluable to the school.
